Cobequid Food Security Network is a coalition of organizations and individuals working together to advocate to eliminate food insecurity within our community.
About Us
Cobequid Food Security Network is a group of organizations and individuals working together to improve access to affordable, healthy and appropriate food within our community. The geographic area served is the Cobequid Health Board Region within Halifax Regional Municipality.
Area:
Sackville, Bedford, Fall River, Hammond Plains, Waverley, Windsor Junction, Beaver Bank, Stillwater Lake, Wellington.
We strive to:
- create opportunities for increased, equitable access to food
- enhance collaboration amongst community organizations
- educate and raise awareness of food security issues
We are:
- Promoting various food programs in our region on the food calendar.
- Organizing a frozen soup project to increase healthy food options.
- Advocating for policies and programs to reduce food insecurity.
- Looking for efficiencies without our programs to do more together.
- Learning from each other and sharing resources.
How can you help?
- Volunteer with one of our programs.
- Donate food/money to one of our organizations.
- Reach out to your MP, MLS, and HRM councillor to ask about policy changes to improve food security in community.
- Change the conversation! Reduce the stigma of food insecurity.
